White Eagles Club History

In 1976, a polish soccer club was officially formed in Ottawa. It took as its patron the hero from the 1974 Soccer World Cup,Grzegorz Lato.

The promoters were Marian Baraniak, Josef Semrau, and Norbert Paprocki, today well known citizens of our city. With help from Polish Airlines and the Association of Polish Engineers and Technologists they started to represent the Polish Community in Ottawa.

In 1984, the "White Eagles" Soccer Club was established in Ottawa. In the first year, our team took first place in the recreational league. In 1985 we were represented by two teams. The first was playing in the recreational league and the second was competing in the V league. During that year, the V league team took first place and advanced to the IV league. The team won first place again in 1988 and we were moved to the III league. Advancement to the next league would not be for six years. As of 1994 our club is represented by seniors in the II league. Also in that year the "Old Timers" team was established and in the following three seasons had advanced to the I league.

In the 1998 season the "White Eagles" club is represented by seniors in the II and VI league and three "Old Timers" teams in the I, III, and V league.

In 1994 , our club joined professional player from Polish Premier League (Pogon Szczecin) - Leszek Wolski
